Artist Bio:

As an artist I love to explore the human figure and humans as subjects. I love to reflect on the beauty and flaws that everyone has and turn it into something beautiful rather than in a sexual connotation, as naked bodies usually are associated with. I also want to work on using very bright and powerful colors to almost create realistic yet unrealistic scenes. While I've explored these themes I have also been wanting to expand my art into a more cartoon realm and see if I could execute a character like I do people. I think that exploring abstract art would also be a really interesting and would like to practice using shapes and colors to reflect the human figure. I believe that it would be fascinating to mix ideas of abstract and human figures to create a representation of a human subject instead of a realistic scene. Though abstract art intrigues me, I would also love to learn more about hyperrealism art and be able to accomplish very realistic art as well. To be able to mix all of these skills and styles together would be riveting and think it could open up many doors for myself as an artist. I have always been really inspired by Frida Kahlo because of the amount of meaning and power behind her art. I hope to grow as an artist and be able for people to feel something and relate to my art. I also am really inspired by Cindy Sherman and her film pictures. I think that her art is so impressive and really intriguing because she studies humans and makes it art. I believe that as an artist I will definitely stick to what im inspired by but also would love to push myself into other areas too.

For this Project I created a character named Lucile; she is a grandma that loves her coffee and cigs, spends her time watching tv and eating. Enjoys the porch swing and waits for her mail to arrive, naps often, takes her mutt on evening walks, drinks martinis, reads old magazines, and wears nightgowns to bed. Through this project I struggled with some of the new programs we used, but feel that I had improved significantly from the beginning to the end. As an artist I love lines and have incorporated a lot of different line designs to showcase Lucile's life. This project made me really that there are many ways to execute digital art and graphic design that I didn't know before, and with some more practice I could really execute my art better. For the first time using a lot of these programs I believe that I did capture my characters life and essence.

Reading assignment

As humans music has been a big part of how we live our lives and because of John cage we have now recognized sounds as art too. Without John Cage breaking the rules of music sound art would not be a thing including remixes and dj's. Its actually very interesting to think that as living things we all hear different frequencies and sounds depending on how we are made. For example what dogs can hear is not what we hear day to day because of the different abilities we have to hear sounds and vibrations. we only hear a fraction of the sounds  and vibrations  that exist. Because we all have different senses it depends on yourself when it comes to sounds we hear. This also connects to why humans have the ability to make music with beats and singing rather than just hearing sounds as music. The ideology of music has changed drastically though because of the way John Cage took the rules of music away and broke the barrier of that we thought music was. The sounds of birds is music just as much as the radios top ten list is. With his performance of 4'33 we now have revolutionized the way we treat music and art. It has opened up a whole new area of  music itself and art. The art of silence and organic natural sounds is now viewed and used to create sound art and performances that use the world around us as music and not just the idea of a musicians making music. As an artist I believe that the world around us is art and thanks to John Cage the world has recognized this as well.

Animation Project

This project was based on memories of ski trips I had throughout my life. I feel that most people can relate to this video if they have been skiiing because of the sounds and also the scenes. This project was very difficult for me to get a hang of but once I practiced and got used to the program I saw that I was improving in my skills. Even though this project took me a while and was a little stressful, I feel so happy that I finally figured it out and improved. I really enjoyed this project and would love to use After effects again in the future.

In the world of art the internet was something that changed it forever. When the internet first started the word net.art began to become relevant and eventually got coined into a term that described art that was on the internet. Throughout history digital art began to evolve and spread through the internet as a huge epidemic. Quickly it was possible to have a platform on the internet for artists artwork or projects. It also began possible for artists to make a profit from their work as well. As the internet started up it was men who began populating the web with content but as net.art became more recognized woman started to dominate the field as well. There were many projects like Olia lialina's project My Boyfriend Came Back from the War, that easily overrun a lot of her male peers work. With the rise of popularity of feminism in the art world, controversy also started to emerge into the Internets society. Anne de Haan's e-manifesto, "The Vagina Is the Boss on the Internet" started a lot of controversy because of the way it ridiculed men and added to the fire between the sexes on the internet. There were a couple instances of sexes and gender on the internet too that began to be seen as an issue. There was apparently a man on the internet in a chat room pretending to be a girl, this was a very big shock and effected the internet in many ways. The way net.art shaped the internet changed the art world forever because of the new way artists could share and express their art to the world.

Website project

For this project, I did a. web adventure of going to a buffet. I thought this project was really fun and I learned a lot about websites surprisingly. I learned. that there is a way to make websites artistically and would love to make another one! It was a little difficult to keep the pages and links. organized without forgetting where everything was, but it was still a fun and  interesting project. I love how my project turned out especially the pictures that I drew though very cafeteria food looking, I thought that it was a good connection especially to the emotions you feel while at a family buffet. I liked this project a lot and feel that I learned so many thing that I can apply to other projects in the future.
